For any study that involves nomenclatural acts, such self-produced
publications run an incredibly high risk of failing to comply with the
ICZN's requirements for publication. As it is, a number of digital-only
journals do not comply with ICZN rules, and new names published in these
journals are routinely unavailable. Authors of new taxa need to exercise
extreme caution when choosing any publication venue that does not
produce a print version.
