>>>ePublications can be ignored
Dear Nigel:
this may be not so simple.
I have published an e-journal for 20 years (no physical copy), and we have been fully compatible with IZCN provisions:
https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmds.marshall.edu%2Feuscorpius%2F&data=05%7C01%7Ctaxacom%40lists.ku.edu%7C1ddb7825bd8a4f8cbb1608da8dd20dac%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C637978230567617033%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=FHK%2FSl6sJAi%2FXvYOVsxnwM0j2Vn%2BH4rCIvbfAzH1hsY%3D&reserved=0
Hundreds of new taxa we have published are fully available, as I hope.
In September 2012, ICZN Article 8. What constitutes published work, has been amended and allowed for electronic publications, disallowing publication on optical discs (CDs, which we had to comply with in 2001-2012). For further details on this ICZN amendment, see
https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pensoft.net%2Fjournals%2Fzookeys%2Farticle%2F3944%2F&data=05%7C01%7Ctaxacom%40lists.ku.edu%7C1ddb7825bd8a4f8cbb1608da8dd20dac%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C637978230567617033%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=fVRUKXbhJJMyoVn8T%2BV%2FxlQxyF1%2BD9m9WRGudwdaHj4%3D&reserved=0.
We are required to use Zoobank link by this amendment. So we do for theh last decade.
So do many other e-only journals these days.
However, my question refers to journals which DO have a physical copy and also (now nearly everyone) have an e-pub which comes online much earlier than the physical copy.
They are not required to use Zoobank link.
So if their e-pub does not list Zoobank links, names published in it are NOT available ?

Dear Victor, with reference to the availability of a new taxon name, only the date of publication or date of distribution of the physical publication can be accepted. Zoological names still have a requirement for a physical copy to be published and distributed. Therefore ePublications can be ignore with reference to the availability of a new taxon name kind regards,Nigel Marley, University of Plymouth, UK

Hi all,
I am looking for sources of digitized vascular plant species distribution maps associated with monographs and other taxonomic publications. The maps will be used as expert estimates of species' distributions for comparison against species distribution models (SDMs) based on presence data from herbarium specimens. Specifically, we are interested in approximations of species' total distributions rather than dot maps of individual specimen localities. An example of such maps would be the distribution maps associated with the Henderson et al "Field guide to the palms of the Americas". The latter is a regional field guide rather than a monograph; however, the key attribute from our perspective is that it is produced by systematists who are experts in the taxa treated. Most of the maps we've been able to find so far are produced mostly by organizations with little oversight by taxonomic experts.
I realize that compete range estimates are by nature speculative and rarely produced in association with monographs and other taxonomic revisions. Nonetheless, if such a thing exists for even a handful of taxa or regions, they would help us better understand the strengths and weaknesses of the SDMs we are producing.
Thanks!

A general question to whom it may concern:
What is the official date of publication for a taxon name that is published in a 'e-pub ahead of print' but the journal has a print version (which will come later in time) and so does not feel obliged, and does not require the authors, to publish a Zoobank link?
Thank you,
