Deserted field? Rehabilitate morphology? And do this by mapping morphological traits to a molecular phylogeny?
One might do better by mapping molecular traits to a morphological tree. This is because for every extant progenitor there may be extant molecular variants of that exact taxonomic progenitor the same as that of its own progenitor and its own direct descendant species. Say, 4 or 5 molecular identities the same as other other species in one progenitor morphospecies. No wonder morphological traits get scattered over dichotomous trees.

Subject: Taxacom: Special Issue "Morphology, Diversity and Evolution of Annelida" in MDPI diversity
Dear all,
This is with pleasure and excitement that I announce that a special issue on Morphology, Diversity and Evolution of Annelida has been announced in the journal MDPI Diversity. The aim of this issue is to focus on morphology and rehabilitate it as much as possible, as it is often a bit of a deserted field. Furthermore the diversity of annelid morphological structures is quite amazing and deserves more attention. This does not have to be pure anatomical papers, just a morphological perspective would be required :) (e.g. mapping morphological traits on a molecular phylogeny and a discussion on the homology would be appreciated :) ).
You will find the details of the issue here :
https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mdpi.com%2Fjournal%2Fdiversity%2Fspecial_issues%2FYD5GN52OEF&data%7C01%7Ctaxacom%40lists.ku.edu%7C3a835d161578481c5c9a08dab39514d5%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C638019750565803832%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=2rAEL%2BLxaIFh7Ai3WsZ7D87jiYS4dBrVufS21PX6AGE%3D&reserved=0
If you are interested in publishing in this issue please do not hesitate to participate, and if you have colleagues who may be interested, please share this information with them !
Sincerely,
Nicolas Bekkouche
