Here is an example of what can and does go wrong with automated methods: http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/name/Cleopus_japonicus_Wingelm$,_1914
If you click on either of the linked pages, you will find no mention of Cleopus japonicus, except in the "Scientific Names on this Page" field on the left! Something is going awry and askew!

Hi Stephen,
That's a nice site and may prove useful to
chase down the species in that genus one by one, and
possibly more... however with 260,000 LepIndex names in Cat.
of Life (and therefore IRMNG) from 2006, and potentially
more to be found in the current CoL version, the thought of
anyone having to sort these out one by one does really
thrill me... (plus as is usual with such "personal
interest" projects, the creator of that site warns
about its dynamic nature as a citable resource, data
limitations, etc.). So if LepIndex does not fill the niche
(as a block of expert reviewed, re-usable content), I wonder
what does...
Regards - Tony
