Good ides and implementation here, and quite applicable to non-phylogenies.
This is the OpenTree project (http://www.opentreeoflife.org/). If one
searches the trees submitted, the 'a special editor for a group (or a few)'
mode starts looking like a closed system. For some groups different
submissions come in weekly. https://tree.opentreeoflife.org/curator
