You may have missed Alain's response, posted here, in which he stated
"Dear Doug, Yes, we did invite personally several members of the
Commission to the meeting". Further, I'm not sure what you mean by
"presumption of entitlement" - if there was a public meeting to be held
discussing Montana State University's insect collection, and future
directions it should take, including criticisms of its standing
policies, would you not feel that you or someone else who actually works
there should be invited to such a meeting, to represent the viewpoint
and interests of the institution being criticized? Do you consider
having an opportunity to defend yourself in public to be a gratuitous
"entitlement"?? It would seem equally odd if a meeting discussing the
perceived problems with the ICZN had no representatives of the ICZN in
attendance. I assure you, there was no communication among the
Commission prior to Alain's posting of this announcement, to let us know
that such a meeting was even being planned, let alone that any of us had
been personally invited. It was a straightforward question, asked for a
logical reason; mostly, *it was news to me*.

As far as I knew, it WAS open-access, but I see that Frank has already
commented on this.
