Hi Richard,

You can use a website called tinyurl at:
http://tinyurl.com/

In a box there, you enter your really long URL and it condenses it into a 
tinyurl.com/[code] url that just forwards the webpage to your long URL 
site.

For example, your Kühlewein/Clinton Correspondence URL I've entered into 
their site and can be accessed with:
http://tinyurl.com/asycq

I've found that useful before, primarily in reading a URL to someone on 
the phone or pasting urls into emails.

No fee or registration required either, but I wouldn't use it for long 
term access, as who knows what this website's future will be.
