Lynn,
Only indirectly. Cuttysarkus was named for the whiskey, and the
whiskey was named for the clipper ship.
Seems that something very similar happened with the dinosaur genus
Quilmesaurus. It was named after a popular Argentine beer, which was named
after the town of Quilmes, which was in turn named after the native Quilme
Indians.
I guess those vertebrate paleontologists get mighty thirsty out on
those digs, and preliminary names most likely get discussed at evening
celebrations. :-)
--- Cheers,
Ken
