rescue of endangered types in 'savage' natural history collections

It seems that type material in 'savage' (ancient and desherent) naturaly
history collections of historic/scientific value (such as the poor Diptera
types of a granfa's collection awaiting the death kiss of Canarian
dermestids mentioned sometimes ago by Miguel) end up usually only 'by
chance' in adequately curated collections.
I wonder if somebody knows about some kind of plan or strategy set up by
individuals, societies, institutions, local, national or international
administrations to actively individuate, locate and rescue threatened types
in such savage naturaly history collections in their speciality, region or
country.
