Taxacom: When science is in the gutter

Another quote below showing how suppression in science works against the
purported goal of science as open competitive reason.

"Migus criticised the dominance of the western science knowledge system to
the detriment of other IK [indigenous knowledge] systems. The dominance
structures within systematics and biogeography and the way data are
generated, manipulated and used need highlighting. These kinds of
imbalances are institutionalised in the current education, research and
museum system and they foster marginalisation rather than empowerment of
practitioners and increase epistemic injustice. Jonathan Waters and
co-authors?, for example, suggested that journals cease publishing
panbiogeographic contributions.147 It is an example of what contestants say
and understand. One of the co-authors is also lead author of the checklist
of the Species 2000 vouchers for land snails. Contestation requires a fair
hearing of clear, well-reasoned arguments free from interference. Michael
Heads was rejected the right of reply to Waters et al. by the editor of the
journal that published the article (pers. comm.)."
