Taxacom: homonym problem, Sphingidae (Lepidoptera)

If anyone is interested in a proposed ICZN appeal regarding a junior
homonym in Hawai'ian sphinx moths, let me know. The gastropod senior
homonym of Tinostoma is nomenclaturally valid for senior homonym
purposes (intentional invalid emendation, has been used post-1900), but is
not useful for nomenclature nor biology and can reasonably be suppressed,
allowing current usage for the moth to continue. However, it would be good
to get some input from the lepidopterist end.

This does illustrate a broader challenge, in that the spelling Tinostoma
for a gastropod appears as a misspelling before it was deliberately used as
improved orthography in the view of certain authors. Checking all possible
places for a deliberate emendation is difficult.
