I tend to look at my taxacom mails only once in a while but have been alerted about this one and reforwarded to me by Dr Prashanth MohanRaj and Priyantha Wijesinghe (thanks for letting me know).
So here is some basic material I could find, I will put together a Wikipedia entry for long term improvement by multiple authors when I trace the portrait photograph.
P?re is of course Father, some German anthropology notes talk about Cardon's studies on native iron smithy and use the German Pater as his title. His name was Louis Cardon, born at Maurage (Hainaut) on 25 December 1857. Entered the Society of Jesus on 25 October 1876. Arrived in India on 25 November 1884. He died at Samtoli, in Biru area on 11 February 1946.

If someone can locate the original source - Peter Tete, ?Louis Cardon, S.J. (1857-1946): The Founder of the Biru Mission,? in To Chotanagpur with Land
and Service, 65-77 (Ranchi: Catholic Press Ranchi, 1991). please do help me with a copy.
He seems to have been active across Chhota-Nagpur (Nagpore in old literature, sometimes with the spelling Chutia which can be read as abuse by Indians) and anyone trying to trace old localities for labels may find this map of use

This note suggests that his grave in Biru may no longer exist - https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ranjesu.org%2Fpublic%2Fuploads%2Fbulletin%2Fpdfs%2F1727170439-rb-march-2021.pdf&data%7C02%7Ctaxacom%40lists.ku.edu%7C8555f7e7c5b543ae5c7008dcf970f118%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C638659512080144335%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C60000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=xzjsVw%2Fe5a641Gtg5JF4HuPq9kueCafxCqqR8iOJg%2BE%3D&reserved=0
A picture of Louis Cardon can be glimpsed in this Youtube video.
