Acridocarpus natalitius is known as the moth fruit according to Wikipedia,
but I have not found a common name for the genus as a whole.
The standard texts on my shelf (Heywood, 1978 and Mabberley, 2008) do not
list any common name for Malphigiaceae. EOL calls is the "Barbados Cherry
Family" (https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Feol.org%2Fpages%2F4361&data=05%7C01%7Ctaxacom%40lists.ku.edu%7C4d6ece1a7c7c49f4493c08dbc2b8fceb%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C638317871996460389%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=G1zOf2uF%2Be2o5vxTV6iNvn%2BpMx7M%2Fuh9dH5BJuyJRcA%3D&reserved=0) which can be found in just 1 paper via
Google Scholar, so does not really seem to be a widely used name.
In case this helps...
