Taxacom: Hypocrisy and the Stability of zoological Nomenclature

John - thank you for drawing our attention to that paper by members of the ICZN?a nice piece of work with conclusions that I fully agree with. However the supportive actions of some of the authors to the unethical and destabilising renaming of some of my taxa by others in recent years were curiously ignored and I did find that somewhat hypocrical. All of the eponymicals in the works of Wells and Wellington were consistent with the accepted norms of naming in the history of zoological nomenclature. None reflected any support for slave traders, sex deviates, theives, psychopaths or despots?although I have not been following the more recent career paths of some that I once thought were ok to patronise. I will admit however that a disturbing exception may exist where a few of our patronymics for professional herpetologists who later exhibited signs of profound intellectual stupidity. This could cast an ethical shadow on the veracity of our best intentions at the time?and give some weak grounds for renaming but I think it best to just leave old dogs to rot and not have them poked by the others looking for their chance at immortality?
Kind Regards
