Taxacom: Reminder: survey on classification

Dear Taxacom list members

Many of you helped us out two weeks ago by filling in a survey on species classification in taxonomy. Many thanks if you've already filled in the survey!

For those who haven't, we'd like to remind you that the survey will be open for another two weeks, and we hope to get more responses. You will get to read three fictional taxonomic abstracts, and for each of these abstracts you will get two or three questions. It should take you no more than 10 minutes to answer the questions. While we do not collect personal information such as IP addresses or names, we do ask about your taxon of specialization and country of residence. For that reason, we will anonymize the data by transforming the geographical information (from country-level to larger clusters) before downloading it for analysis or making the data publicly available.

If you think the subject of this study is important and you want to help us out, please consider forwarding the survey to other taxonomists. After initially distributing the survey, someone pointed out that we provide very little information about the study design and purpose. We acknowledge that, to make sure that participants don't have to read too much, we provide as little information as possible, though this is a difficult balance to strike. Rest assured, though, that this study has passed by the ethics committee of our institution (contact details in the landing page of the survey), and that this study involves no deception. We are of course also happy to answer any questions you might have.
