Taxacom: Dates of e-pubs ahead of print?

Moreover:
Let's say, e-pub by Smith appears online on December 28, 2022, not complying with the Code requirements.
Printed copy appears on January 15, 2023 (usually it takes longer)
So Abus Smith, 2022, gen.n is a nomen nudum and the available name is Abus Smith, 2023.
But an industrious Jones knows what is going on—and publishes Babus Jones, 2023, gen.n. (based on the same type species) on January 5, 2023, complying with the Code requirements.
This is easy to do in an e-only journal.
Now Babus is a valid name, and Abus its junior synonym.
I personally know a few industrious Joneses...

I suspect that many smaller journals are not aware of the problem. I
recently published a paper in a journal that had recently become online
only but they thought they still met the requirements of the code by
printing 2 copies, one of which was sent to the editor. I had to pester
the production staff (operated by "E...r") and editor over a period of
weeks to get them to republish the paper again with Zoobank registration
and the actual date of publishing online. This was messy and should not
happen.
