Taxacom: A nomenclatural puzzle - genus Galea Meyen, 1833 (mammal), preoccupied or not?

The Smith name has a description.  I know that some of the mollusk names in
Smith, 1817 are accepted (one is a senior homonym of a species from the
southeastern US, and the two are thoroughly mixed up in online databases),
so I think it is safe to say that the 1833 use of the name is preoccupied.
