Dear Tony, dear colleagues

It appears that there was an opinion of CZN published in 1954 on an other work by Meuschen, i.e. Museum Gronovianum, it is here :
https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.biodiversitylibrary.org%2Fpage%2F34655076&data%7C01%7Ctaxacom%40lists.ku.edu%7C70b90e23eb134f59764108dad373b267%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C0%7C638054792055764358%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=9Nbfe5tJB%2BD4bZbfNQx3csdtzy4o2T6gf0fLdSHrz1w%3D&reserved=0

As a summary, Museum Gronovianum do not consistently applies binominal nomenclature and was considered as not available (available only to people interesting in purchasing Gronovius' collection).

Museum Geversianum is in the exact same situtation, this is a sale calatog (from Gevers' collection), using Gevers' collection names and not a consistent binominal nomenclature. Homogeneity in application of Commission's opinion may leads to the same treatment but that was never been formaly done for Museum Geversianum

sincerely

Objet: Re: Taxacom: A nomenclatural puzzle - genus Galea Meyen, 1833 (mammal), preoccupied or not?

Dear Francisco, Thomas, et al., for what it is worth, these are the names I
have (most/all from Neave) with authority = "Meuschen, 1787", at this time,
all from "Mus. Gevers." (or "Mus. Gever."). "Uncertain" just means that I
have not had reason to check them further as yet, and they have not turned
up as either synonyms or accepted names in other lists that I have
processed to date. Therefore they would certainly seem not to be in
widespread use, implying that perhaps the work is indeed treated as
unavailable:

Anadema Meuschen, 1787 (uncertain)
Anatifera Meuschen, 1787 (uncertain)
Artocrea Meuschen, 1787 (uncertain)
Birita Meuschen, 1787 (uncertain)
Disci-transfixus Meuschen, 1787 (uncertain)
Galea Meuschen, 1787 (uncertain)
Lampas Meuschen, 1787 (uncertain)
Olivaeformis Meuschen, 1787 (uncertain)
Ramphastus Meuschen, 1787 accepted as Ramphastos Linnaeus, 1758
Stribilita Meuschen, 1787 (uncertain)

According to Neave, 7 of these are echinoderm genera, 1 crustacean, 1
brachiopod and 1 bird.
