[Taxacom] Automated monitoring of the taxonomic literature

I sort of cringe when I see yet another literature database experiment (for
all that I admire the effort), especially when the principal problem of
tracking all the literature remains - as noted by Stephen. Once upon a time
when I had institutional access to Zoo Record and Biosis (do these still
exist) I could feel fairly confident of a good coverage of the literature.
Now I don't have that and find I rely, to whatever extent I can, on a
Google search. And of course that is probably hit and miss, especially for
many Chinese journal publications. I wonder if in the best of all worlds
whether all journals (at least selfishly those publishing taxonomic and
systematic information) would post their contents online with some sort of
universal tag (keyworded taxonomy or systematics) that could be
automatically swept up by any search engine. Dreams are free, at least.
Cheers, John Grehan
