HAPLOGONOPHORA nom. nov.
(Melagonozonia, pro p., Brolemann, 1916.)
Depuis notre publication de 1916 (Bull. Soc.

H.-W. B ROLE MANN
HAPLOGONOPHORA name. Nov.
(Melagonozonia, pro p., Brolemann, 1916.)
Since our publication in 1916 (Bull Soc Entom, France, year 1916, No. 1, p.53), we have come to the conviction that it is impossible to maintain, side by side, in the same Order, the Spiroboloid and luloid. We thus institute for the first a new section, the order of the Haplogonophora, which until now contains only the suborder Spiroboloidea.
To unify our nomenclature, we modify the names of Meta-gonozonia and Progonozonia, created in 1916, and replace them with:
Metagonophora, which only includes forms of the type of our European luloids and perhaps Cambalidae, and
Progonophora, encompassing Spirostreptoidea and neighboring suborders, as well as Polydesmoids.
We will have the opportunity to return later to these great divisions of the Diplopoda.
So looks like you are correct, this is not a genus name.
Regards,
Rod

Dear Taxacomers,
I am looking at some presently unresolved names I have listed in Myriapoda,
originating from Nomenclator Zoologicus (listed therefore as genera or
subgenera), and have got to "Haplogonophora Broelemann 1932" which is
listed with the publication details "Arch. Zool. exp. gén. Paris, 72,
278.". The full details of the original work appear to be:
Brölemann, H. W. (1931). Myriapodes recueillis en Nouvelle -Calédonie et
aux Loyality. Archives de Zoologie expérimentale et générale, 72(2):
275-316. Paris (
http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=sourcedetails&id=244465), however
I have not seen this and it does not appear to be in BHL for copyright
reasons.
Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirobolida) has "Haplogonophora
Brolemann, 1931" listed as a synonym of the order Spirobolida Bollman, 1893
in Diplopoda, but without additional information RE sources. So I am
wondering if Nomen. Zool. is in error and this name is in fact a higher
taxon name and not a genus.
MilliBase (http://www.millibase.org/) does not appear to contain this name
at present, either as a genus or a higher taxon name, valid name or
synonym, so any advice from readers of Taxacom would be welcome (for
example if someone has access to page 278 of the work cited above).
Thanks in advance - Tony
