[Taxacom] Longest citation? (probably not...)

Years ago I read examples in The Journal of Irreproducible Results" that
parodied such things as authorship (such a paper on some subject would have
a long line of authors and then some footnote about why certain
authors were listed that were not much different from what Lynn mentioned.
I remember being quite surprised when arriving in the US to learn that
supervisors got their name on all student papers even though they did none
of the actual work. I was also in a situation where I was paid to do some
identification work and the researcher insisted on my being included as a
co-author. The person meant well and due to the particular circumstance I
did not raise opposition to that in order to avoid any unpleasantness at
that institution due to my very junior status. But I have never felt good
about that and do not include the paper in my published works.
