[Taxacom] IRMNG update

Tony,

Answers do exist to the issue of privately or self-supported websites.

On longevity, albeit dependent on the survival of the hosting service, I,
with a modest grant from the Royal Entpmological Society, have just paid for
a ten-year contract, including the annual domain name charge. The total was
invoiced at current prices with a discount applied so should be very good
value.

Here in the UK, one can ask the UK Web Archive to do what their name says
and archive one's web site. That should ensure future proofing and they have
a regular update procedure (one can also request an update be made).

Another issue, however, is the attitude of some to websites as
"publications". As a prime example, two well known authors have begun to
issue a series (apparently) on ³Ants of Africa & Madagascar a guide to the
genera², University of California Press. Looking at sample pages on the
Google bookshop. I find no reference whatever to my enormous amount of work
over the last 18 years (the first version of my website as the ³Ants of West
Africa² was posted in 1998). It is as if I do not exist and have never
existed which I find very cruel.

Another issue I omitted with regard to privately

Already in IRMNG (which

sources I utilized - including

since disappeared. Future proofing is

longer am, to VLIZ).
