Hi John,

You can get public access to the names component of Zoo. Record (for better
or worse) here: http://www.organismnames.com , but only if you know in
advance what you are looking for (at least to genus level); also there will
be noise as well as signal, at least for older names, but OK if you just
want a heads-up as to the names they have indexed and the sources they came
from. I do not think you can search by family, though, or if you can, you
will get only a subset of the results you want.

For full Zoo Record search you need access via an agency with a
subscription.
