Dear Richard,

The first one can be found in:

Gray, J. E. 1827. A Synopsis of the Genera of Saurian Reptiles in which some new Genera are indicated, and the others reviewed by actual Examination. Philos. Mag., London, 2 (2): 54-58. -

http://biodiversitylibrary.org/page/15530582#page/78/mode/1up

and is named after the collector General Hardwicke from the Bengal Artillery.

I suppose for the other names you can find them also in the original descriptions.

Regards,

Isabella

I'm curious to know the origin of hardwickii as in
        Eublepharis hardwickii
        Saara hardwickii
        Gallinago hardwickii
        Kerivoula hardwickii
        ...

Looks like said  Hardwick(e) was around
in the 1820s [1] but we have not managed
to find out anything more about him/her.

Any information would be much appreciated by
    the family genealogist.

    Richard Hardwick

[1] e.g.  IUCN Red List
    http//www.iucnredlist.org/details/10974/0
    says
        Scientific Name Kerivoula hardwickii
        Species Authority (Horsfield, 1824)

    Then AnimalBase search page

http//www.animalbase.uni-goettingen.de/zooweb/servlet/AnimalBase/home/reference?id=6285

    says
"Reference summary for Horsfield, T. 1824"
        Horsfield, T.
        1824.
Zoological researches in Java, and the neighbouring islands.
        pp. [9-479].
        London. (Kingsbury, Parbury & Allen).

but after that we drew a blank
