At the level of a single US state, the NC Natural Heritage Trust Fund buys land for the state based (largely) on the occurrence of rare species. See http://www.ncnhtf.org/. ca. $10,000,000 US dollars worth per year over a 30 year period. Not quite sure what yiu, Daid are after. These are not really "new policies". But they are direct conversion of biodiversity information (occurrences of rare species, and their prioritization) into governmental action.

> Go to - http://east.tnc.org/reports/all_assessments. You will find many such assessments that have shaped conservation policies and strategies across major portions of the globe. Reports range from "Alaska - Coastal Forests and Mountains Ecoregion Assessment and Resource Synthesis" to "Yunnan Great Rivers Project Conservation Assessment" and many between!
Thanks, John. But, I'm struggling to find links between these reports and new policies created as a result of their publication. Or, were these reports executed because of an existing policy - the opposite of what I'm trying to uncover.
