Although I do not know of a particular dispute between Deshayes and
Lamarck, Meretrix lamarckii Deshayes, 1853 is not exactly
complementary.
A different sort of questionable compliment comes from the genera
Walterigalba Kruglov and Starobogatov, 1985b and Walterlymnaea
Starobogatov and Budnikova, 1976. Given that Walter suggested that
the entire family Lymnaeidae was a single genus and less than 40
extant species worldwide, would he have appreciated having new taxa
named for him? Walterlymnaea is also an objective senior synonym of
Catascopium, which was based solely on molecular differences and on
not thoroughly researching the literature.
