Scott,
I suggest that you take a look at the Biodiversity Collections Index (http://www.biocol.org/), which is an attempt to build a community web site to bring together information on all natural history collections. It already includes data from Index Herbariorum and Insect and Spider Collections of the World (ISCW) and will be used by GBIF and other global and regional projects to discover and integrate information on collections.
Best wishes,
Donald
