grad school formatting requirements

This message is directed primarily to those working at institutions of
higher education in the USA and Canada.  Briefly, does your Graduate
School allow theses and dissertations, or portions thereof (chapters),
to be submitted in the format of the intended journals?   Or does it
require that the entire thesis/dissertation be formatted according to an
