Steve Ashe, Curator of Entomology, University of Kansas

Yes, what an immense and terrible tragedy. I'm finding it hard to believe
that he has passed. Steve was my Ph.D. advisor from 1996 to 2001 and helped
mold me as an educator and scientist in ways I cannot fully express. After
I left KU, he continued to be a tremendous scientific and personal role
model. There seems to be so many more projects we wanted to work on
together. Brian's comment about Steve being a true champion of quality
research is so very true. Steve's passing will leave quite a hole in
entomology.

This is an immense tragedy. Steve was a great systematist and a true
champion of quality research. What an incredible blow to our science.
