kagu and tropicbirds

Followup:
I was just reading that some ornithologists regard the sunbittern as the kagu's closest relative (maybe that is where the Gondwanaland relict idea came from?). Anyway, I still think tropicbirds could very well be more closely related to the kagu. Both tropicbirds and kagus nest on islands and lay a single egg on the ground. They are both Pacific groups, unlike the sunbittern in South America, so the biogeography is more parsimonious that kagus evolved from tropicbirds. Is there any evidence that would strongly counter such a close relationship? Well, it's way past my bedtime, so maybe more on this tomorrow. :-)
