I find the intellectual weakness of ID remarkable, and that this obvious flaw is overlooked by many critics. The surrender of any intellectual ability inherent in ID I think should be highlighted. The idea that "I cannot understand how complex organisms evolved, therefore an ID must have done it" is surely pathetic.

If we apply this logic to computers, they do not exist. I certainly cannot understand how they get so much functionality onto a chip. I am too lazy to read how, therefore computers are impossible. Does this argument compare with ID?

Well, it's a great comic and the thrust is a good political comment, but
before we get complacent, remember that the opposition accepts
microevolution (viruses evolving into new types of essentially the same
species) but not macroevolution (speciation where you get a different
species). Doonesbury's strip doesn't quite hit the mark, and one must rely
on other arguments (fossils, demonstration of recent internal barriers to
crossing plus (one hopes) morphological differences, and the like).
Creationists and intelligent designers are not impressed with this comic.
