Maybe it's just me, but I tend to think of the "give the finger to the 
creationists" aspect of this as being by far the most important plus of 
the entire proposal.

Pity Pan is a junior synonym of Homo - "Pan sapiens" would have a lot of 
potential in this direction as well.
