Point taken, but isn't the willingness to compile lists more positive than
simply saying "we don't need them". When bacteriology revised its lists of
names we actually included some species under two names because we couldn't
work out which one was "taxonomically correct". In such cases knowing that
there are two or more names for the same organism, over which there is
dispute is better than being blissfully unaware of the fact.
