ICBN problem solved

Hi,

The problem I thought was the problem was not the important problem. I did not translate the diagnoses carefully enough but now Dr. Schuhwerk has pointed this out to me and I understand that it is clear that Fries did NOT accept this species (although he provided it with a new name...).

Franz Schuhwerk wrote:

I think, Fries has not accepted his
Hieracium caesionigrescens, because "potissimum cum H. inciso
jungendum" is to translate as "has to be united most reasonably with
H. incisum".

second sentence:
.... a variety not definitely associated (ICBN 33.1) ....
.... The code in 33.1: definitely associates the final epithet with
the name .... Therefore Fries seems to me to associate the variety but
not the name as requested by the code.

best regards, Franz Schuhwerk
