Protolog is fine for zoology too

>ending in my application (we 'mericans cost ourselves a great deal in our
>efforts to be different solely for the purpose of being different....)

R?ellement ?

Voici in extenso cette note :

1 Protologue (from protos, first; logos, discourse) "the printed
matter accompanying the first publication of the name" (Willmott
MS.); this term was proposed by A. J. Willmott (1888-1950) to cover
everything associated with a name at its first publication, i.e.
diagnosis, description, references, synonymy, geographical data,
citation of specimens [,] discussion, comments, illustrations.
