Dear Taxacom members:

Thanks to everyone who responded to my query about Martinov. Here is a
blurb about the publication from a web page set up by Dr. J. Reveal at:

http://www.inform.umd.edu/EdRes/Colleges/LFSC/life_sciences/.plant_biology/f
am/Tieghem.html

"The 1820 botanical dictionary by Martynov (Tekhno-Botanico Slovar,1820;
known to me only from four copies) proved to be significant insofar as
family names were concerned. This
rare work, written in Russian, was never widely known. Certainly no one
ever anticipated that the work would be the first place of valid
publication of so many vascular plant family names."
