Rose smell

Hi Taxacom people. I got an email form a student asking me for
information about the smell of roses but I don't know anything
myself. If anyone has any information that might be of use - or
could point me in the right direction - it'd be much appreciated.
I've pasted her email below. If people reply off-line I'll collate a
summary. Cheers, David Orlovich.

>I'm writing to ask for a favour... it sounds pretty cheesy - but it's true!
>My Great Gran is fascinated about how roses smell, how they all have
>unique smells and how they turn their smell off on cold days (I
>didn't realise they did that but she said they do)
>She's 89 and has cancer so I thought I'd try and find out for her
>soon as possible.
>It would be really great if you could direct me to some information
>or give me the name of someone who knows all about roses... or maybe
>you know the answer? Any help would be muchly appreciated!
