Eugenia - Syzygium

A generic name change does not come about simply because of studies on
morphology, molecular data or chemotaxy. A subgenus can be raised to the
generic level, or a new genus can be established that removes a certain
subset of species of an established genus, or, on the basis of priority, the
genus _Eugenia_ could be declared a junior synonym of _Syzygium_.

The only thing that studies can do is give indications of what should be
done taxonomically, but someone still has to do it.
