I have used two editions of the Trimble Scoutmaster (see:
http://www.trimble.com/index.htm) and have found them excellent. Small
but durable; inexpensive but not cheap; far more features than I need.
The model purchased about 1 year ago has a port for external antenna
and a port for connection to a computer. When Trimble started selling
direct from the factory the price dropped about 50%. The model I
purchased, Scoutmaster GPS Flash, was about US$1000. They had
cheaper models too.

The latest information I have for them:

Trimble Navigation Limited, 2105 Donley Dr., Austin, TX 78758-4534.
