Herbarium email addresses

[Harvey E. Ballard, Jr.]

Email addresses, phone, fax and other useful items are available for many
herbaria (and for many hundreds of systematists worldwide) in Plant
Taxonomists Online, a wonderful service provided on the Web and Gopher
server by the University of New Mexico's Biology Department/Herbarium. The
URL is:

gopher://gopher.unm.edu:70/11/academic/biology/pto

More on computerized information from Index Herbariorum--that may or may
not include email addresses--can be found on the URL:

http://www.nybg.org/bsci/cass/ppi.html

It may be worth noting that PTO has only ca. 60% overlap in "subscription"
with the ASPT and BSA directories (both of which are online, I believe),
and these together do not completely overlap with membership of TAXACOM.
Searching all three will assure your best success in getting a systematists
email or other "vital statistics".

Hope this helps.
