ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS MELBOURNE (AUSTRALIA)
THE 1996 COMMEMORATIVE CONFERENCE
29 SEPTEMBER TO 5 OCTOBER, 1996
The 1996 Commemorative Conference includes a major component
entitled Beyond the Floras. We invite contributions on all
aspects of systematic botany, particularly papers dealing with
applications for and dissemination of floristic data. We
welcome also review papers on the status of Australian taxa,
including potential areas for future research. Phylogenic
and biogeographic studies fit within our interpretation of
systematics beyond the Floras.
The following session topics are meant to be inspirational
rather than restrictive:
Current Aspects of Vascular Plant Relationships
Orphan Groups (non-vascular 'plants')
Vascular Plant Floristics, Biodiversity & Conservation
Applied Systematics Research
Dissemination of Systematics Information
The Australian Systematic Botany Society (ASBS) and the newly
formed society for Australian systematists (yet to be named)
will meet in Melbourne during this week. Two conferences will
be held in conjunction with The 1996 Commemorative Conference:
Proteaceae and Mycology (see Conference homepage for
further details).
Abstracts are due by 31 MAY 1996. However, if you wish to
present a paper but are unable to meet this deadline please
send an email message to Tim Entwisle (i.e. reply to this
message). Include the title of your talk and the date by which
you will be able to send you abstract (by mail).
Note too, that registration costs rise after 31 MAY 1996.
