Advanced Research Fellowships in Plant Taxonomy
University of Reading in association with University of
Birmingham

Two Advanced Research Fellowships funded by the National
Environment Research Council (NERC) of the United Kingdom are
available. The Fellowships are for up to 5 years in duration
are available to candidates of any nationality and will be
held at the University of Reading, U.K.

Applications are invited in the two distinct areas of Plant
Molecular Systematics and Computer-based Taxonomy. The
advanced fellowships are aimed at young taxonomists at the
postdoctoral level and are well-supported by direct grants of
=9C15,000 (pounds sterling) per annum. The fellows can also
apply for grants from NERC. This will enable the Fellow to
build up a major research team over the five year period.=20
Collaboration with one of the major institutions such as the
Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, or The Natural History Museum will
be strongly emphasised.

An additional requirement is for the Fellow to contribute to
teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels to help
with training the next generation of plant taxonomists.

Further details about the Advanced Fellowships can be obtained
from the Coordinator, Professor John Parker. He would welcome
personal and informal contacts about any aspects of this major
prestigious initiative.
